Press Release

Kajang, 26 December 2016: It is the season for back to school shopping, and thanks to engineering, construction and road maintenance group Protasco Berhad and Dengkil State Assemblyman, Y.B. Tuan Shahrum Bin Mohd Sharif, 200 underprivileged students from the district were able to join in the fun.

Protasco, through its road maintenance subsidiary, Roadcare (M) Sdn Bhd, contributed RM10,000 towards this Back-to-School programme for 200 underprivileged students from Dengkil and Sepang Selangor, while Pergerakan Puteri UMNO Bahagian Sepang and Pusat Khidmat ADUN Dengkil contributed another RM10,000.

Each student was given RM100, and taken to Tesco Nilai to shop on necessities for school.

“It’s an honour to be able to do what we can to help these kids and know that they will begin their studies in 2017 with the new school supplies they need,” expressed Dato’ Ir Jamal B Dato’ Nasir, Chief Operating Officer of Roadcare. Roadcare is a subsidiary of Protasco and a unit within the Protasco Maintenance division.

“Education has always been a cause that we at Protasco strongly support. Education is the foundation for a better future. We hope this programme will help provide these students with the right equipment for a better future,” he added.

Over the years, Protasco has made it a mission to contribute to the community through its CSR programmes. Protasco’s Roadcare yesterday sponsored a road safety programme in Dengkil for 200 participants who also received free engine oil. It also recently donated RM24,000 to 10 families in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, providing them with monthly aid of RM200 for 12 months.

Last year, Protasco has done its part as a responsible corporate citizen by purchasing school supplies amounting up to RM57,000 for 400 school children in Gua Musang, Kelantan, as well as building 6 new houses for families of the same area who’ve lost their homes due to the flood in 2015. More recently, in June 2016, Protasco through Roadcare, has worked together with the local assemblyman or ADUN of Sungai Besar to set up an emergency fund to help families in times of crisis by contributing RM100,000 to the fund.

“We feel that it is our duty to help those in need. Protasco will never give up doing its part to contribute to communities wherever we operate,” he added.
