Representatives from i2 Energy visited the Equalenergie team at their offices in Exchange 106, Kuala Lumpur, for a working session on collaboration opportunities for the year ahead. The conversation centred on solar deployment and energy storage, where both companies are building active pipelines in Malaysia.
Equalenergie is a renewable energy and storage developer registered under Equalenergie Holding Pte Ltd. It takes what it describes as a circular approach to rooftop solar, covering engineering design, equipment procurement, construction, ongoing operations and maintenance, and the responsible recycling of panels and components at end of life.
The discussion reflected a shift in what clean energy buyers in Malaysia are asking for. Generation alone is no longer the whole question, and buyers increasingly want a partner who can pair it with storage and stand behind both across a project's full life. Malaysia's National Energy Transition Roadmap targets 70 per cent renewable capacity by 2050, with solar as the primary source, and the Energy Commission is preparing the country's first battery storage tender.
Both teams are working towards a formal arrangement for 2026. The structure has not been settled and will be confirmed once it is.
