On 19 June 2025, at a Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam event held at Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residences in Genting Highlands, Ikram Works Sdn Bhd presented a session titled "BIM Adoption and Implementation: From Strategy to Execution". Among those attending was the Mayor of Shah Alam, Dato' Hj Mohd Fauzi bin Hj Mohd Yatim. Ikram Works was represented by Chief Executive Officer Dato' Ir Ts Hj Mohd Taufik bin Haron, BIM Manager Ts Mohd Hafiz Razali and Assistant BIM Manager Ts Mohd Farhan bin Hasan.
The session dealt with what Building Information Modelling requires in practice: the maturity levels, the level of development expected of a model, and what an organisation has to have in place before it can run a project this way. It then moved to completed and ongoing work across building projects, structural and slope remedial solutions and infrastructure development, using case studies to show the workflow and the technical problems that came up in each.
Earlier in the year, at Port Klang
On 26 March 2025, Ikram Works presented its BIM capability at the Port Klang Free Zone headquarters, in a session chaired by PKFZ Chief Executive Officer Mdm Priscilla Lim Swat Hah with Assistant Manager (Engineering) Mr Suhail bin Omar. It was delivered by the chief executive officer and Ts Mohd Farhan bin Hasan, and covered similar ground: modelling applied to buildings, slope remedial works, structural rehabilitation and infrastructure development. The pavement condition assessment project then running at Port Klang Free Zone was noted as the work of Ikram Premier Consulting Sdn Bhd. Port Klang Free Zone expressed interest in applying the method to future slope-related infrastructure work, which at that stage was interest rather than any commitment.
Behind both sessions sits one toolchain. Terrestrial laser scanning and drone survey produce PointCloud data, which becomes digital terrain and digital surface models, which in turn feed Autodesk ReCap Pro, Civil 3D, Infraworks, Revit and Navisworks, including the 4D and 5D use where programme and cost are carried alongside the geometry.
Public sector clients in Malaysia are moving towards digital project delivery, and the decision to adopt it sits with those clients rather than with their consultants. Sessions like these are how Ikram Works, in Protasco Berhad's engineering and consultancy division, puts a working method in front of the people who have to commission it.
